This year, BD² made significant progress, accelerating research efforts and expanding our collaborative network to improve outcomes for people with bipolar disorder. Key milestones included strengthening cross-disciplinary partnerships, launching our second Discovery Research cohort, and making remarkable progress within the BD² Integrated Network, which bridges research and clinical practice.

We’ve fostered new collaborations across our research teams and with new partners like the Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance to drive insights that advance bipolar disorder research.
We’ve welcomed new teams of scientists exploring emerging topics, including sleep, circadian rhythms, genetic influences, and immune system interactions.
Our Discovery Research, Brain Omics, and Genetics teams have achieved significant progress in mitochondrial imaging, CRISPR gene editing, stem cell research, heritable genetic variations and molecular markers, paving the way for personalized treatment strategies.
BD² Integrated Network clinical sites have initiated recruitment into our 4,000-participant longitudinal study and implemented a learning health network to merge clinical data and research, enhancing real-time insights and care models for bipolar disorder.
